広瀬絣は、約200年前から現在の島根県安来市広瀬町で継承されている藍染の綿絣です。綿糸の一部分を防染して藍で染めてから織ります。糸1本1本を活かし切り、魅力的な絵模様と緻密な幾何模様を織り出す技術は、歴史的にも芸術的にも貴重な人類の宝物です。
Hirosegasuri is an indigo-dyed cotton kasuri that has been handed down from about 200 years ago in the present Hirose Town of Yasugi City, Shimane Prefecture. After binding ta portion of the thread to prevent dyeing, the cotton yarn is dyed with indigo and then woven. The technique of making full use of each thread to weave attractive pictorial patterns and intricate geometric patterns is a valuable historical and artistic treasure for mankind.
